23. Southwark Walking Tour

A historical walking tour of Southwark led by Mark Power

Southwark, London

Mark Power took us on a historical walking tour of Southwark. Places that we visited included Clink Street where the famous Clink Prison was located and the ruins of Winchester Cathedral. He pointed out slivers of historical buildings on Borough High Street such as the Hops Merchant’s Office and we also visited London’s only surviving galleried coach in the George’s Inn. We visited the courtyards of King College Hospital and stood at the statue of John Keats. The last stop on our tour was a visit to the Old Operating Theatre Museum housed in the attic of the early eighteenth-century church of the old St Thomas’ Hospital.
