48. Walters Way
Walter Segal's famous self build project in south london
Lewisham, London
Walter Segal designed a system of timber framed building that allowed an person with little or no building experience to easily erect their own house. Frames and cladding were designed to a 660mm width module and all building materials were supplied by Lewisham Council. The house system was designed to be flexible to the user by allowing them to put windows and walls where they wished. The houses now have a local listing.
